  • The SST/RTI Intervention Specialist will assist teachers school administrators and other school personnel on the Student Support Team to: 1) Identify the foundational areas of weakness for assigned students 2) Determine research-based interventions that meet the targeted weakness 3) Determine validated progress monitoring tools that will measure student growth resulting from the intervention and 4) Analyze ongoing data to make ongoing decisions about next steps. Provides thorough explanations and modeling as necessary for teachers and others on how to implement research-based academic and behavioral interventions with fidelity. Observes implementation and provides coaching and support to teachers and others who are implementing the interventions. Is the lead school contact for the SST/504 process. The Intervention Specialist will also connect students and families to external wrap around services as appropriate to address barriers that are impacting students progress and development in school.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • CERTIFICATION:
      • T4 ï½T7 Georgia Professional Certification required.
    • EDUCATION:
      • Bachelors Degree in Teaching required.
      • Master Degree in curriculum & Instruction or related field preferred.
    • WORK EXPERIENCE:
      • Three (3) years of successful verifiable experience improving student academic achievement or behavioral skills by providing instruction and interventions in a K-12 school setting.
      • Three (3) years of School Counseling experience.

    • Has strong classroom management skills.

    • Able to communicate effectively via oral and written communication.
    • Ability to clearly articulate and model their instructional practices.
    • Demonstrated ability to work well with students staff and parents in a professional manner.
    • Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person learning environments.
    • Knowledge of school safety & security procedures.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Conducts SST (Student Support Team) meetings for assigned schools to assist the team in conducting the four major activities in response to students needs: 1) Identifies areas of weakness 2) Determines research-based interventions 3) Determines validated progress monitoring tool and 4) Analyzes ongoing progress monitoring data to determine next steps.
    • Responsible for maintaining updated electronic files for all students in the SST/504 process.
    • Provides guidance and support for the effective use of behavioral support tools (Functional behavior Investigations behavior action plans positive behavior supports) and adapts as needed for an .
    • Provides training explanations and modeling regarding best practices in the four major SST areas.
    • Provides observations and coaching to assist teachers and others implementing interventions with fidelity.
    • Completes all processes in compliance with relevant federal and state laws rules and regulations.
    • Oversees data collection including universal screening and progress monitoring at Tiers 2 & 3.
    • Administers and/or supports state and local testing processes and policies.
    • Works together on strategic initiatives to address areas of need in the school that they identify together with the administration.
    • Participates in professional development and collegial support to build leadership skills.
    • Acts as skillful participant in all aspects of the school by actively participating in all meetings; advancing the school goals; modeling core norms and definitions of excellence; stepping up when leadership is needed; and mobilizing others to lead.
    • Reflects on successes and areas of growth seeks to improve performance and responds to feedback.
    • Responsible for wiping down surfaces to uphold sanitation standards as required for safe school environment.
    • Assists administrators and other staff members in the orderly expedient and safe transition of students from one location to another.
    • Required to have prompt regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site in-person during regular business hours and as needed.

    Strength: Ability to lift push pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
    Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
    Mental Requirements: Ability to read write understand interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy compare compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.
