Job Summary
Candidates shouldhave knowledge of:
-Basic methods materials tools and equipment used in custodial work and routine maintenance.
-Proper methods of storing equipment materials and supplies.
-Proper lifting techniques.
Candidates shouldhave the ability to:
-Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings locker rooms and adjacent grounds areas in a clean orderly and secure condition.
-Use cleaning materials equipment and methods according to pre-determined standards.
-Learn and apply knowledge of the schedules procedures and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.
-Learn appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
-Maintain tools and equipment signed in clean working order and provide proper security.
-Perform minor non-technical repairs.
-Observe and report need for maintenance and repair.
-Perform heavy physical labor.
-Understand and follow oral and written directions.
-Meet schedules and time lines.
-Communicate effectively with others.
-Inspect and assure the security of facilities.
-Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
-Walk bend lift push and stand for extended periods of time.
Position Details
Hours:8 hours per day(plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Contract Length:261 days per year
Contract Adjustments:Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
Employment Status: Full-time with benefits
Employment Type:12-month employee on the classified pay schedule
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Documentation:Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.
Compensation & Experience Credit
Salary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.
2025-2026 Pay Scale
- Starting Pay (Step 0):$17.13/hour
- Experienced Pay (Step 10):$20.85/hour
We value experience!Previous experience working with students intervention systems and small-group instruction is strongly desired.
New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable full-time verified experience.
- The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.
Payroll Note:While this is an hourly position the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
