Job Summary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support marketing communication and promotional efforts of CCE; support CCEs vision of working to create a more just and equitable world.
2. Create original video content for CCE social media and assist with planning social media strategy.
3. Writing news articles and creating/distributing promotional materials to promote CCE events and initiatives as well as to tell the story of civic engagement activities across campus and in the community.
4. Support the Universitys Voter Engagement Coalition initiatives as needed through research and the creation/compilation of applicable content and promotional pieces.
5. Other duties that may arise will provide an opportunity to better understand the operations of CCE and civic engagement in a university setting such as attendance at meetings staffing the CCE office answering phones helping with other events or civic education programming as needed.

Additional Information

The CCE is a unique department with responsibilities that support the missions of the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of Academic Affairs. The department is responsible for enacting Illinois States commitment to civic engagement and fostering a culture that values and rewards civic engagement. This is accomplished through a variety of programs and services with students faculty and staff and in partnership with Bloomington-Normal community organizations. CCE organizes work around civic engagement including volunteering and service-learning political engagement and civic education.

The CCE team comprises 7 professional staff 2 graduate assistants and several student workers interns or fellows. While each staff member has specific responsibilities the department operates as a team and therefore all staff are expected to support a variety of programs and services.

Pay Rate

$15.00/hour

Preferred Qualifications

Strong writing skills
Experience with planning and creating social media content
Basic video production skills (filming and editing)
Attention to detail
Perform tasks promptly and professionally

The marketing/communication student worker is expected to serve as a positive representative of CCE using professional verbal and written communication skills to engage multiple audiences and support CCEs principles of equity diversity and inclusion. The student worker will be expected to meet with their supervisor weekly and to demonstrate excellent time management project management and multitasking skills necessary for working independently.

Work Hours

Work hours are flexible to the students schedule and availability. The production of certain social media and written content may require the student to move around campus and participate in on-campus events.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable an employment history review based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review.
