Job Summary

Position Scope

NACG is seeking a Compensation Specialist to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will possess highly tuned analytical and organizational skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information. This positions responsibility is to assist with the administration analysis design communication and education of the organizations Total Rewards program. You will collaborate with a team of HR professionals as well as internal and external clients to ensure that the Total Rewards program and overall compensation maintains aligned within a constantly changing external market. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative environment while maintaining autonomy over their own tasks and have a keen interest in all areas related to compensation.

This role is located in Acheson Alberta 5 minutes west of Edmonton.

Responsibilities

What Youll Be Doing

Conduct candidate and job evaluations and analyses and provide recommendations related to compensation and classification

  • Conduct job evaluations and analyses and price new jobs through market pricing or slotting utilizing existing salary structure
  • Benchmark jobs against market survey data to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
  • Process salary calculations and recommendations for all non-union positions
  • Provide recommendations and consultation on issues related to compensation benefits and department organizational structure
  • Approve compensation changes based on Company compensation guidelines

Administer and deliver compensation policies procedures and programs

  • Complete internal and external salary surveys
  • Analyze survey results to determine competitiveness both internally and externally
  • Prepare compensation and benefit analyses reports
  • Contribute to the development of Total Rewards communication documents
  • Assist in preparation of termination packages
  • Complete special ad hoc projects and analysis as requested
  • Perform audits of compensation programs
  • Perform internal equity reviews
  • Participate in industry networking groups
  • Prepare and maintain job description for each position in the organization

Lead all aspects of the annual compensation cycle

  • Assist with preparation and administration of long-term incentive program grants and payments i.e. Performance Share Units Restricted Share Units and Director Share Units
  • Assist in the execution of the annual merit increase cycle
  • Assist in the processing of the annual short-term incentive plan payment
  • Participate in audit reporting

Lead benefit plan management and administration of participation and enrollment provisions

  • Oversee the benefit plan for the Company and its operating entities (within Canada & US)
  • Contribute to the development of Benefit plan communication documents
  • Administer and communicate the Benefit plan options features and enrollment requirements
  • Research employee benefits in like industries based on findings recommends changes or updates to the Companys existing plan
  • Work with insurance brokers and investment planners to create competitive cost-effective benefits packages for the Company
  • Facilitate implementation and enrollment for insurance and retirement plans

Support management and employees in the interpretation and application of compensation and benefit policies procedures and programs

  • Prepare ad hoc reports for management to support operations and strategic decision-making

Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • Post-secondary education in Business or a related discipline
  • Hold or working towards a CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or CMS (Compensation Management Specialist) designation
  • Three years of experience in administrating a Compensation/Total Rewards programs and/or Benefits plans within Canada & US
  • Experience with administration of equity compensation plans would be an asset
  • Two years of experience in Human Resources
  • Advanced skills in MS EXCEL and the MS Office Suite
  • Industry experience and JD Edwards would be considered an asset
  • Ability to perform complex compensation analysis
  • Knowledge of compensation theory and practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong time management and project planning skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High technical aptitude and an interest in learningnew software
