REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Masters Degree. Current valid South Dakota School Speech-Language Pathologist License.
Experience: Successful internship preferably in a school system or other pediatric setting.
Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking keyboarding speaking writing bending carrying pushing pulling sitting stooping and turning. Some lifting up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication time management and problem-solving skills. Computer proficiency in word processing spreadsheets data entry email and internet. Ability to keep information confidential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Teaches communicatively impaired children in accordance with approved programs as dictated by birth to three or school-aged childrens needs.
- Evaluates students using appropriate testing observation and supplementary information provided by records and outside agencies.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results integrate findings with other disciplines offer recommendations and develop IEPs and intervention plans to achieve goals.
- Utilizes therapist techniques consistent with research on characteristics of effective speech therapy.
- Maintains student service administrative and other departmental records in accordance with the District State and Federal policies.
- Assesses need and recommends assistive technology necessary for function at school.
- Participates in parent teacher conferences and communicates with parents in regards to student progress; serves as a resource.
- Monitors the effects of speech therapy and the need for continuance or modification.
- Attends required meetings.
- Prepares reports as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
