Preble Streets Veteran Housing Services (VHS) provides services and supports toward overcoming barriers to finding and maintaining housing to veterans throughout Maine. With funding from the U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) the VHS program offers case management; employment benefit and resource referrals; intensive housing counseling; and direct financial assistance for housing to veterans who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
The VHS program is seeking a Supervisor to join their team. The Supervisor works from the Lewiston office and supervises the casework team oversees and manages the day-to-day program tasks and participates in providing direct services to veterans.
The schedule for this position is Monday Friday; 8:00 am 4:30 pm.
Qualifications include a bachelors degree in social work or related field of study 3 years of relevant management and/or supervisory experience and experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health and substance use related conditions; or comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
Additional requirements include the ability to lead supervise and direct the work of staff; strong communication de-escalation and crisis intervention skills; ability to work with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; understanding of and alignment with Preble Streets mission; and commitment to providing low-barrier high-quality services to people experiencing homelessness; and strong organizational and computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
