SGI Global is seeking a Technical Writer II to support the United States Attorneys Office (USAO) Western District of Louisiana. The Technical Writer II will provide professional technical writing and communications support to assist Government personnel in the performance of official duties in support of the Public Affairs Office (PAO) mission requirements. The position will support the coordination of communications and outreach efforts that promote public understanding of Department of Justice programs initiatives and activities and require professional written communications that accurately convey complex legal and organizational information to a variety of audiences.

Job Duties
- Assists staff members with the media and public affairs portfolios of the United States Attorneys Office (USAO).
- Assists with the coordination of external communications and drafts and suggests edits for press releases.
- Collects and analyzes information requests from the news media and the public on the organizations programs and prepares response recommendations for USAO use. Response drafts shall be in written form often requiring detailed explanations of positive or negative comments made on the organizations activities or performance in a particular situation.
- Translates highly complex legal technical information into everyday language for USAO personnel use in addressing a wide variety of audiences.
- Prepares written communications and documents for the USAOs use to utilize in its efforts to inform and educate stakeholders on USAO programs activities and services.
- Assists staff members with the coordination of community and various other District programs and projects.
- Prepares and edits other pamphlets handouts or documents which require technical writing.
- Analyzes interprets and recommends new innovative communication solutions for the District including the management of authorized social media accounts.
- Provides expertise related to emerging trends and technology in the writing industry.
Qualifications:
- Have a four-year undergraduate degree. A degree in English journalism communications or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to work with internet software programs for uploading information.
- Have a working knowledge and understanding of the media process and deadlines.
- Good judgment and discretion ability to interact and participate effectively in a variety of settings.
