TITLE:Administrative Assistant II Assistant Principal(s)

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE/10-month position

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:Classified

GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Administrative Assistant II/Assistant Principal(s) will be responsible for providing a positive working relationship with students faculty staff and parents. Responsibilities will include maintaining a high level of confidentiality and standard of professionalism for the administrative offices and assuring smooth and efficient operation of the school office.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • General office coverage; answers phones and greets public.
  • Prepares sign in sheets for Assistant Principals Office andmaintainsISS list.
  • Mails andfilesall discipline referrals.
  • Prepares distributes and collects registration packets at the beginning of each year.
  • Responsible for Teachers Assistants assigned tothe PrincipalsOffice.
  • Generatescorrespondence memos and reports asrequired.
  • Organizes andmaintainsconfidentialstudent discipline files.
  • Facilitatesstudent notifications/appointments with the assistant principals over disciplinary matters.
  • Returns electronic devices that are confiscated for first referrals.
  • Compiles homework for sick/homebound students.
  • Assistsecurity with students as needed.
  • Performs basic office procedures and other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provides back up for other administrative assistants andnurse as needed.

OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:

Low Risk-Work is routinely performed in indoor environments including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mustpossesshighschool diploma or equivalent supplemented byappropriate businesscourses.
  • Mustpossessone to three years secretarial experience preferably in schoolsetting.
  • Must complete a series of secretarial tests with a high degree ofproficiency.
  • Must havethe abilityto communicate and work well with staff students and parents.
  • Must useowninitiative and judgment in performing job.
  • Mustpossessanability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

The evaluation is done by the Assistant Principal(s) in accordance with provisions specified in governing board policy.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Administrative Assistant II Assistant Principals Office reports directly to the Assistant Principal(s) on site.
