The Service & Team:

Following the successful promotion of the existing post holder we are recruiting for a permanent full-time Senior Practitioner: Autism within the Learning Disability and Autism Our Futures Team. This position provides an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker ready for their next challenge.

The post holder will work collaboratively across the integrated care system to develop a Social Work Practitioner response within Adult Social Care in order to:

Improve the workforce understanding and acceptance of Autism within Adult Social Care and partner agencies within the Local Authority

Improve the experience of transitions/preparing for adulthood for Autistic young people

To support Autistic people into the pathways into employment enabling them to navigate the support to maximise economic and social wellbeing

To work in partnership with Cornwalls health providers to improve and tackle health inequalities

To build the right support for Autistic people and the families in their communities with particular focus for Autistic people who have been or at risk of inpatient Mental Health care

To build and strengthen partnership to better support Autistic people who are in contact with or at risk of entering into the criminal justice system

This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This is a permanent full time role. Flexible working requests will be considered.

What youll need to succeed:

You must be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have prior experience of working with Autistic people. The role aims to implement and embed Social Work Practice to ensure that Cornwall Council Adult Social Care works in line with the National Strategy for Autistic Children Young People and Adults.

The post holder will need to possess leadership and management skills in terms of both processing case work embedding the role within the wider integrated system and to effect change within Social Work practice.

This role attracts a market supplement of 3500 per year for three years
