GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for assisting with the management of alternative education programs and services; maintaining services and staff; providing information and serving as a resource to others; enforcing established policies and regulatory requirements; assisting with the coordination of activities and addressing issues situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists in the analysis of a variety of program and/or student related data of identifying the relevant issues to provide direction and support to efficiently address immediate needs identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will provide direction and support to efficiently address immediate needs.
- Supervises daily operations for alternative K-12 students including discipline issues.
- Evaluates assigned personnel ensuring achievement of standards and performance is
- maximized.
- Supervises state and district testing for alternative programs and oversees the acceptance of students in the appropriate program.
- Facilitates the development communication implementation and evaluation of quality learning enhancing excellence equality and equity for staff and students.
- Facilitates communication between internal and external stakeholders evaluating situations solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
- Facilitates meetings coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school district and/or state objectives.
- Implements policies procedures and/or processes providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.
- Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
- Manages school administrative functions as assigned maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.
- Prepares a wide variety of materials in written and electronic form documenting activities providing written reference and/or conveying information.
- Represents the school within community forums maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to school environment.
- Responds to a variety of inquires resolving problems providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
- Supervises school personnel monitoring performance providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of schools curriculum objectives.
- Supports Director III - Alternative Education providing assistance with administrative functions.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Masters Degree in job-related area from an accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Certificates Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Must have a Missouri Principal Certification.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance the results of which must be satisfactory to the District required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic math including calculations using fractions percentages and/or ratios; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes policies regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; and behavioral management strategies.
- Skill to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records
- Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Ability to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
- Ability to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; working with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily inside where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
- Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers perceive the nature of sounds make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes express or exchange ideas by the spoken word substantial movements (motions) with the hands wrists and/or fingers and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
- Additionally the following physical abilities are required: balancing crouching grasping handling hearing kneeling manual dexterity mental acuity repetitive motion speaking standing talking visual acuity and walking.
