| Livingstone College is seeking a BSW Field Director/Assistant or Associate Professor of Social Work. This tenure-track position commences Fall 2026 semester. We seek candidates committed to social work education teaching online/in-person/hybrid education research and service. TheBSW Field Director/Assistant or Associate Professor of Social Workis responsible for follow up with the site by orienting contracting and checking in with site supervisor throughout the year for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. During the advising process students can communicate with the Field Director/Field Office on the types of field placements they would like to be assigned. A key role of the Field Director is to engage with community organizations to secure future field sites. The Field Director also creates and edits the comprehensive field manual in accordance with Council on Social Work (CSWE) standards. The Director also teaches one course per semester which can include the field placement course/s. Additional responsibilities for this position include coordinating the BSW field education and teaching a variety of undergraduate social work courses including Field Seminar Social Work Practice Social Welfare Policy Minority Experience Social Work Research Human Behavior in the Social Environment and Introduction to Social Work. Other responsibilities include student advising and serving on department and college-wide committees. Candidates who expect to teach practice courses should also have at least three years post-MSW practice experience. The School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The Commission on Accreditation of CSWE is the sole body authorized to accredit BSW and MSW program in the United States. Successful candidates should address in the cover letter their teaching philosophy as well as abilities to work with a culturally diverse environment and to prepare students to work effectively in a world of increasing diversity. | Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The results you will deliver each day that matter most! | Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): - Trains and orients students and agencies on field requirements
- Manages data related to field evaluation hours program assessment
- Develops and enhances the field manual as needed
- Teaches courses including field seminar
- Provides outreach to the social work community including establishing practicum sites for the students in collaboration of the BSW Program Director
- Assists in the development of program expansion opportunities
- Assists in the process to attain and maintain CSWE accreditation at state and professional association levels as applicable
- Assesses student learning outcomes with field placement courses
- Works with appropriate personnel to mediate student and faculty concerns and resolve conflicts with field placements
- Assists the Program Chair with recommending annual budgets by researching reviewing and analyzing historic information and projecting future needs; controls and authorizes expenditures within the limitations of approved budgets
- Advise and supervise field service; and conduct field placement.
- Administer synchronous instruction utilizing various teaching strategies that will be inclusive for all learners;
- Prepare course outlines and syllabi in accordance with program standards and in collaboration with the program chairperson;
- Utilizing effective teaching and learning practices such as presentations demonstrations class discussion guest speakers and other appropriate modes of educational delivery;
- Use Blackboard Ultra as an instructional aide to teach assess student performance and post student grades;
- Advise and register students and track student progress and performance;
- Use innovative teaching techniques and technology to enhance learning experiences;
- Evaluate student progress such as attendance and grades in a timely manner;
- Work collaboratively with campus-wide services on student retention;
- Assist students with enrollment related challenges or issues;
- Assess course outcomes; student satisfaction student retention and use results to improve program quality;
- Attend required meetings;
- Collaborate with the campus community and serve on campus-wide committees;
- Participate in professional organizations and provide community service;
- Work flexible hours evenings and weekends as needed for Institution events;
- Perform other duties as assigned
| Education/ Experience
What you will need to be successful! | - Doctorate degree in Social Work or related field;
- A minimum of three years successful teaching experience in higher education preferred;
- Holds an MSW and LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) with three years of practice experience;
- Experience developing field placement standards;
- Ability to motivate and manage practicum sites at a distance;
- Experience working with underserved and underrepresentedlearners
- Successful experience with traditional in-person classes and hybrid/online instruction;
- Experience teaching students with various learning disabilities;
- Curriculum/program development;
- Academic advising and degree auditing;
- Other skills and abilities include strong written and oral communication skills working knowledge of Blackboard Ultra Microsoft Word Excel Publisher and PowerPoint. Must be driven by the following values: Excellent Customer (Student) Service Creativity Quality and Teamwork.
