Job Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Disability Services the Access Coordinator assists in promoting and creating equitable and inclusive learning environments. The Access Coordinator meets with current and prospective students and advises as appropriate. Additionally this position assists with the coordination of testing solutions accessible textbooks document conversion note-taking solutions and sign language interpreters.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Work with students with disabilities to identify barriers in the learning and living environments and to determine access solutions.

Coordinate means of access as support through disability documentation and letter of accommodation.

Coordinate with students faculty staff and campus community members to create equitable and inclusive learning environments in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote inclusion and universal design maintaining cooperative working relationships on campus and in the community.

Promote and facilitate inclusion and universal design through education advocacy and developing creative solutions for equitable access when students experience barriers in university programs and services.

Maintain student records document communications through case notes and the recommended course of action while maintaining confidentiality.

Refer students to campus and community resources.

Maintain the Disability Services website. Update as necessary and check for accessibility compliance.

Point of contact for troubleshooting case management/office management software programs (AIM).

Work with campus entitles publishers and external vendors to acquire and/or create accessible textbooks.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to create accessible course documents.

Help to ensure the overall success of the office of disability services by completing projects and performing all duties as assigned by the Director of Disability Services.

DS partners with academic departments housing student programs and all other areas of the university to create an accessible university environment.

Compensation:

Minimum starting salary of $48900 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A six-month probationary period is required. The University of Wisconsin-Stout does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. A successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment and for maintaining work authorization throughout the employment term. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree by employment start date
  • At least three years of professional work experience supporting people with disabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Disability Services School Psychology Counseling Special Education or related academic degree
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Knowledge of disability law as it pertains to students with disabilities in higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology
  • Experience coordinating academic accommodations for people with disabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing an inclusive environment for college students with disabilities
