JOB SUMMARY
This position is a full-time 10-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant / Associate professor in Chemistry in the Department of Natural and Computational Sciences. The candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate-level courses related to Chemistry as needed by the Department especially those in General Chemistry Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Science. The incumbent will also participate in departmental activities and initiatives.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide quality instruction and facilitate effective student learning to undergraduate courses in Chemistry and related courses using a variety of current instructional modalities
- Create prepare and supervise undergraduate laboratories and lab activities.
- Use both internal (g. D2L) and external learning management systems to deliver relevant course materials and information to students.
- Develop course objectives assignments and means of evaluating student performance for the course.
- Provide prompt feedback on student assignments.
- Engage undergraduate level students in research opportunities.
- Develop and maintain an externally funded research program
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Chemistry.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
- Excellent analytical organizational and communicative skills and teamwork
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Background in Inorganic Chemistry
- Prior experience teaching Chemistry lectures and laboratories at the undergraduate level
- Ability to create learning environments in which students can learn and thrive
- Have energy- or catalysis-related research experience
