Employment Terms: Full-time/10 Month Contract

Start date: August 2026

We are seeking a dynamic and warm mathematics teacher who will inspire curiosity confidence and joy in learning across all upper school levels. The successful candidate will build strong authentic relationships with students and create a classroom culture where students feel seen supported and challenged. They will demonstrate the ability to make complex mathematical ideas accessible while fostering deep conceptual understanding critical thinking and resilience. With energy empathy and enthusiasm they engage learners at different stages of mathematical development and support them in becoming reflective capable and courageous problem-solvers.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Academic

  • Prepare and implement course objectives lesson plans outlines and assessment pieces for the course of study following IB and College guidelines;

  • Employ best practices for teaching students at the high school level including inquiry and problem-based learning scaffolding book-ending frequent review and feedback and differentiated instruction;

  • Create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere in the classroom;

  • Establish a positive and aspiring classroom environment that best enables a diverse group of students to flourish and recognizes the differing needs of students based on their linguistic historical cultural and socio-economic experiences;

  • Communicate regularly on student progress with faculty administrators and parents;

  • Use technology in the classroom to enhance learning;

  • Collaboratively create engaging assessments to evaluate students progress and provide meaningful feedback to students in their journey towards continuous growth;

  • Keep up to date with developments in mathematics teaching resources and strategies and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities;

  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings educational conferences assemblies and various professional development opportunities.

Advising

  • Actively engage with students in their advising group to know them and support their growth in academics co-curricular and social-emotional well-being;

  • Know the academic physical and personal profiles of each advisee student in the advising group;

  • Emulate the values of the College-Learning Community Wellbeing Service and Pluralism;

  • Be an effective link between the school and families on both academic and non-academic matters by carrying out Adviser duties;

  • Meet with advisees during advising sessions and deliver the advising curriculum;

  • Write advising comments on reports and communicate formally and informally with parents of advisees in person email and via telephone.

Co-Curricular

  • Lead with skill passion and enthusiasm identified activities in our vast co-curricular program including athletics (coaching expertise in basketball soccer hockey volleyball baseball) the arts clubs and publications;

  • Actively participate in the life of the school and other extracurricular community events as required.

Job Requirements

Experience Knowledge and Competencies:

  • A university major in Mathematics is preferred;

  • 5 years of relevant teaching or related work experience;

  • Strong knowledge of educational pedagogies with nuanced thinking about the educational and instructional program including but not limited to Anti-Oppressive Anti-Racist and Decolonizing Pedagogy is an asset;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong professional relationships with students colleagues administration and parents;

  • Exemplary communication problem-solving negotiation and mediation skills;

  • Willingness to adapt and change based on the unique and diverse needs of the students;

  • Commitment to honesty justice fairness and equity;

  • Concern for the whole student not just academics;

  • An effective and collaborative team member who builds strong relationships with students across all grades in mathematics contributes meaningfully to course teams and helps foster engaging inclusive and conceptually rich learning environments;

  • Strong attention to detail organization and planning;

  • Invest in personal development and strive to grow professionally;

  • Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners;

  • Display humility and empathy and recognize their ability to positively influence change; Embraces the opportunity and responsibility to make a difference in their local and global communities;

  • A dynamic and warm educator who builds strong relationships with students and supports learners across both middle and senior mathematics. Creates inclusive engaging environments where students feel confident taking risks asking questions and developing deep conceptual understanding. Experience with the MYP (Middle Years Programme) and/or IB (International Baccalaureate programme) is an asset;

  • Collaborative energetic disposition with demonstrated creativity and passion for working with students;

This job is for an existing vacancy. Compensation is based on the faculty salary grid which varies by qualifications and years of teaching experience. The salary range is $77221 to $121 547. For the full grid please see the careers site.
