AECOM Edmonton is seeking a motivated and skilled Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure this role you will work alongside project managers senior engineers EITs technologists and CAD designers to deliver high-quality and technically challenging multi-discipline projects within the water and wastewater treatment and conveyance sector.
Your focus will be on structural design components but you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other disciplines (process civil electrical and mechanical) on multi-disciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Complete detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and structural analysis under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Independently complete tasks required to deliver primary structural design elements.
- Gather and correlate engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
- Support quality management processes including structural and inter-discipline reviews and review resolution.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules with minimal supervision.
- Review construction activities for compliance with contract requirements.
- Demonstrate continued professional development and experience in a consulting engineering environment.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- 4 years of experience working with Canadian codes and design standards.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA in the province of Alberta (or eligible to become registered within 12 months).
Preferred Qualifications
- 8 years of structural design experience on general structures.
- Masters degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
- Experience with water/wastewater infrastructure water retaining structures pumping stations and water conveyance structures.
- Familiarity with CSA and U.S. design codes for concrete and steel structures.
- Proficiency with structural design software such as SAP2000 ETABS and STAAD Pro.
- Familiarity with ACI 350: Code Requirements for Environmental Engineering Concrete Structures and Commentary.
- Willingness to travel to active construction sites to provide field review services.
- Class 5 Alberta Drivers license and access to a vehicle.
