As a DevOps Automation Engineer you are part of the Metro Core & CPE development team.
Your responsibilities focus on five key areas:
- Operational maintenance of our automation environment
- Ensuring proper Life Cycle Management
- Ensuring that our environments comply with the security policy
- Optimizing and streamlining operational processes
- Developing automation scripts and tools to increase efficiency
The Metro Core & CPE development team carries significant responsibility for the services delivered to our customers. The team is responsible for the daily maintenance and innovation of approximately 40000 assets. To safeguard the continuity of our networks various automation solutions have already been implemented.
We are currently in an ambitious transition program to replace the existing FCN network with a new Metro Core network over the coming years. Automation plays a crucial role in this transformation.
However the continuity and reliability of our regular services and deliveries remain the top the coming period special attention will also be required for the impact ofand alignment withthe AO and Unlock Data programs as well as KPNs ambitions regarding automation and the integration of L1 (NOC) and L2 operational activities.
KPNs Metro Core network and its services must also comply with telecommunications legislation Wholesale regulation security requirements (including KSP) privacy guidelines and various internal and external audits and certifications.
As a DevOps Automation Engineer you can make a real impact working as part of a team of approximately 30 international professionals.
Qualifications :
You are an ambitious DevOps Automation Engineer with excellent communication skills. You have the ability to align your technical expertise with the needs of teams and colleagues. Are you the team player who can guide your colleagues and stakeholders through technical developments in the field of automation You understand the complexity of innovation incident management technical operations and delivery processes (particularly for IP routing & switching) and can translate these into concrete solutions. Your handson mentality makes you a valuable member of the team. To be successful in this role you bring at least:
- Bachelor-level working and thinking skills
- 15 years of experience in a technical telecom network environment
- Solid Linux knowledge
- Proven experience with Python and Bash scripting a passion for programming and the ability to learn new languages
- Strong understanding of automation tools within a test automation pipeline such as Ansible Docker and Jenkins
- Good knowledge of network security methods
- Knowledge of network management protocols such as telemetry SNMP SSH NTP DHCP RADIUS TACACS
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent command of English both written and spoken
- Problemsolving mindset and eagerness to learn
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- An agile mindset and knowledge of Scrum Kanban DevOps and other agile methodologies

Experience in maintaining networks across multiple domains is important in this role. You have a solutionoriented teamplayer mentality. Strong communication skills are essential to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders and you know how to build trust with the people you work with.
- Extensive experience in telecommunications in the areas of design testing and operations
- Deep experience with Spirent technology
- Broad experience with IP networking
- Knowledge of and experience with Agile and DevOps ways of working
- Basic knowledge and experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines and automation
