Job Summary

Concierge team members serve as building liaisons and offer exceptional customer service. They provide information about the Bone Student Center building tenants and their services Bone Student Center and campus events the general Illinois State University campus and the surrounding Bloomington-Normal community.

These students are also responsible for selling tickets for Bone Student Center and/or Braden Auditorium events through Ticketmaster as well as scanning and collecting tickets at those events.

Concierges can also work student-focused events in the building providing support with event check-in room setup and post-event tear-down. The concierge is often the first Illinois State University interaction for guests clients and visitors. Therefore this role is vital to the building and Illinois State University.

Event Management Dining and Hospitality (EMDH) provides safe and inclusive gathering spaces high quality dining options and customized event services to enrich student and visitor experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service giving general information directions resource materials and other assistance as needed in a respectful courteous and professional manner.
Greet all guests clients and staff members with a friendly and energetic disposition while maintaining proper eye contact.
Exhibit a mastery understanding of the services provided by the Bone Student Center building tenants as well as general campus services and information office locations and campus events.
Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve.
Operate a multi-line phone system and field phone inquiries.
Operate the Ticketmaster system to sell tickets to events in the Bone Student Center/Braden Auditorium.
Scan/take tickets pass out programs and help patrons to their seats during ticketed events.
Enforce Braden Auditorium polices.
Communicate effectively with both professional and student staff members. Complete daily log forms reports and other paperwork throughout shift.
Maintain a clean and safe environment.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate

$15.25/hour

Required Qualifications

Previous customer service work experience and/or involvement in campus life through student organizations volunteer efforts etc.
Currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student.
Commitment to working at least two full terms.

Positive attitude with a willingness to accommodate client guest and staff requests and exceed expectations.
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail along with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and organize.
Interest in working with a diverse staff and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.
Strong time management skills with an emphasis on punctuality and reliability.
Ability to take charge in an emergency and assist with safety procedures.
Ability to adapt to situations as they arise.
Exhibit resourcefulness when working with clients.

Work Hours

Flexibility for working hours is required.
A variety of work hours are available during the morning afternoon evening and weekends.
Work hours are also available during all breaks: spring summer fall and winter.
All staff members are expected to work at least 4 hours during the week and approximately 20 hours during breaks throughout the year.
Shifts over breaks are assigned if not enough team members volunteer.
