Position: Middle School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree
- Mississippi AA certificate in Secondary Administration and Supervision
- Five years of successful teaching experience
- Evidence of administrative capabilities
- Good physical condition with ability to lift 10 pounds
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Superintendent of Schools
JOB GOAL:
Provide on-site administration and execution of the district educational programs policies and regulations; development of school mission goals and objectives; allocation of financial and human resources within school programs in accordance with budgetary requirements; and facilitation of cooperative community relations to insure the quality of instruction for all students in a safe and healthy environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND DECISION MAKING
1. Attend School Board district staff and other meetings and serve on committees.
2. Advise district personnel of needs.
3. Communicate and interpret policies to faculty staff students and parents.
4. Develop programs to include teacher student and community input into the decision making process.
II. PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION
1. Recommend the employment of personnel.
2. Conduct teacher orientation.
3. Conduct staff and faculty meetings.
4. Implement behaviors designed to achieve high morale of faculty and staff.
5. Provide appropriate avenues for conflict resolutions for faculty and staff.
6. Organize and direct advisory groups and committees.
7. Inform staff of their duties and responsibilities.
III. STUDENT PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION
1. Organize and supervise student services (registration scheduling programming attendance grade reports guidance reports and local state and federal reports.
2. Maintain student discipline.
3. Provide for the health safety and welfare of the students at all times.
4. Supervise extracurricular activities.
IV. SUPERVISION OF INSTRUCTION
1. Procure and distribute instructional supplies and equipment.
2. Work with other administrators in the articulation of the educational program.
3. Conduct group and individual teacher conferences and visit classrooms for the improvement of instruction.
4. Serve on district curriculum committees.
5. Evaluate instruction.
6. Utilize proficiently state instruments to evaluate teachers.
V. PLANT AND OFFICE MANAGEMENT
1. Inspect the plant and report needs (ensure cleanliness etc.)
2. Prepare reports as necessary.
3. Maintain inventories.
4. Supervise handling of money.
5. Supervise office staff.
6. Prepare routine correspondence.
VI. SCHOOL COMMUNITY RELATION
1. Prepare and disseminate school bulletins and handbooks.
2. Hold parent conference and assist in arranging parent-teacher conferences.
3. Participate in local organizations and lay groups.
4. Encourage publicity of school activities (media releases.)
5. Perform as liaison with law and welfare agencies.
VII.PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Participate in Staff Development in accordance with State and District guidelines and directives.
VIII.SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT
1. Prepare office reports as necessary.
2. Assist with program research and development.
3. Perform other special assignments as directed by the Assistant Superintendent of Academics and superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 231 Days Certified/Exempt
