About the Role
As an English Teacher you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will encourage pupils to explore literature develop strong writing skills and build confidence in their communication and analytical abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4
Teaching a variety of literary texts language skills and writing techniques
Encouraging pupils to develop critical thinking and analytical skills
Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback
Differentiating lessons to support pupils of varying abilities and learning needs
Maintaining high expectations for behaviour engagement and achievement
Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development
Supporting enrichment opportunities such as reading clubs writing competitions or school productions
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Have strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language
Demonstrate the ability to deliver engaging and structured lessons
Possess excellent classroom management and communication skills
Be committed to supporting pupils academic progress and confidence in English
Work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team
