Job Summary:

The Director of the Wisconsin Unions Office for Student Organizations Leadership and Involvement (SOLI) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison provides primary leadership administrative oversight mission and vision development budget oversight supervision both direct and indirect and day to day management of SOLI including 8 full-time staff and 30 student employees. The position also holds responsibility for campus wide efforts and partnership development around activities and issues critical to student organizations and leadership opportunities

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve in a leadership capacity within the Wisconsin Union Department of Social Education (5%)

  • Coordinates in collaboration with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards the Student Organization Resource Team (SORT) and serves as resources related to the Student Organization Code of Conduct (10%)

  • Serves as a unit liaison collaborating with internal and external stakeholder groups to foster cross-unit partnership efforts regarding student affairs initiatives (20%)

  • Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees (20%)

  • Oversees staff that manage the Student Activity Center (SAC) and maintains a positive proactive relationship with the Student Activity Governance Board (SACBG) SACGB Director and SACGB Advisor. (5%)

  • Assists in the development of unit-focused strategic planning initiatives and unit objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial administrative and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan (20%)

  • Manages and oversees the budget (20%)

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $85000 - but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6 years minimum experience in student activities student leadership student organization advising student affairs residence life or experiential learning at the university or college level.

  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of professional staff.

  • Demonstrated experience with student organization conduct policy development and education.

  • Demonstrated familiarity and skill with student organization management software systems.

Education:

Masters degree in Student Affairs Higher Education Administration College Student Professional or a related field.
