Summary:
- The Travel Assistance Assessor plays a crucial role in evaluating travel assistance applications for children and young adults aged 025 in accordance with the Councils Travel Assistance Policy. The position involves determining eligibility recommending the most appropriate and cost-effective travel solutions and ensuring decisions are tailored to the individual needs of each applicant. Additionally the role supports families in fostering independence through initiatives such as independent travel programs.
Responsibilities
- Assess travel assistance applications against the Councils eligibility criteria.
- Recommend suitable and cost-effective travel solutions based on the applicants needs.
- Conduct visits to educational settings to observe applicants and assess their travel requirements.
- Accompany applicants on journeys when necessary to evaluate the suitability of travel assistance options.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role or related professional field.
- Experience managing multiple complex cases to planned deadlines.
- Experience working under pressure and handling high-volume tasks.
- Experience drafting clear structured written information for varied audiences.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent OR possess a professional qualification with expertise in child development.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 7.5 hours per day
- Basic DBS required.
- Location: 160 Tooley Street Southwark Surrey SE1 2QH United Kingdom
- Work pattern: Initially five days per week in the office transitioning to a hybrid model once familiar with the role.
- Payment: Bi-weekly
