Legal Counsel ()
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and compliance support to the University on institution-wide matters and operations including governance risk management and regulatory compliance in areas such as contract drafting and review procurement data privacy standardisation of documents dispute resolution and matters relating to students and staff employment and training;
- Provide support to the Head of Legal and the Senior Legal Counsel assisting with the preparation of legal advice and review of contracts;
- Draft prepare and process legal documents;
- Conduct legal research; andkeep updated on regulations;
- Assist in formulating reviewing and making recommendations on the Universitys policies and procedures legal solutions and compliance matters including maintaining and safekeeping legal documents policies and statutory records; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience in reputable law firms or inhouse legal team of large institutions or companies;
- Experience in and knowledge of general corporate legal matters and/or intellectual property laws would be an advantage;
- An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua);
- Good IT literacy;
- Embrace a fast-paced working environment;
- Strong analytical interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and under pressure;
- Strong communication skills in providing quality legal services; and
- Attentive to details highly organised able to prioritise and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with strong self-motivation and quality of a team player.
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of three years. Reappointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit a written test and attend an interview.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
