Overview
- The Accessibility Developer 3 is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining automated accessibility testing infrastructure and solutions. This role partners with the Software Accessibility Architect to create scalable CI/CD accessibility testing frameworks develop accessibility test automation libraries conduct complex accessibility assessments and enable development teams to identify prioritize and resolve accessibility defects effectively.
- The Developer ensures timely delivery of high-quality software within the release timelines and guidelines. This role entails supporting the global product landscape and helping teams implement strategically focused automated solutions tools technologies and automation.
Responsibilities
Accessibility Activities
- Design and implement automated accessibility testing using Playwright and axe-core; build CI/CD pipelines that validate HTML semantic structure ARIA implementation keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility
- Develop custom JavaScript Python and Java-based accessibility test automation libraries to extend existing frameworks and address specialized compliance requirements
- Analyze automated accessibility scanning results and translate findings into actionable JIRA defects with specific WCAG 2.2 success criteria references severity levels and remediation recommendations
- Conduct manual accessibility assessments using Windows (NVDA JAWS) and macOS (VoiceOver) screen readers to validate automated findings and identify complex accessibility issues
- Create accessibility dashboards and report mechanisms that track test execution compliance status and metrics; collaborate with teams to triage defects and validate fixes
- Provide technical coaching to development teams on ARIA patterns semantic HTML keyboard accessibility and inclusive design conduct accessibility training and code reviews
- Align accessibility testing with organizational frameworks and Design System best practices; support creation of accessible user stories with testable acceptance criteria
Coding Requirements
- Develop complex code based on functional specifications complete logic and algorithm design in alignment with established standards
- Translate and analyze software requirements into design specifications and ensure adherence to requirements
- Perform complex peer code review and analysis; provide insight on broader impact of software changes
- Incorporate the business value and identify the broader impact to the software; influence and provide technical guidance to other team members
- Test code to verify it meets the technical specifications and is working as intended before submitting to code review
- Influence and lead on standards and processes of team and events including planning work estimation solution demos reviews and implementation design of code discussions
- Understand business application and coding tasks to make recommendations for internal process improvements and product documentation
- Research complex escalations for production issues or software code issues to ensure the stability of the application
- Implement development standards to ensure compliance with product and industry practices and regulations
- Mentor coach train and provide feedback to other team members; may provide feedback to leadership on technical abilities of team

Basic Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Accessibility certifications (e.g. IAAP CPACC) or contributions to open-source accessibility projects
- Experience building custom accessibility testing frameworks or creating accessibility dashboards
Technical Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Significant experience in JavaScript; working knowledge of Python and/or Java for automation library development
- Strong understanding of HTML5 semantic structure DOM hierarchy and CSS; foundational SQL knowledge
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Design Systems such as: Angular Material Carbon DS React DS Salesforce DS among others
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for automated testing and axe-core or similar accessibility scanning tools
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins GitLab CI GitHub Actions); familiarity with JIRA for defect tracking and dashboard creation
Accessibility Knowledge
- Solid working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 guidelines (Level A/AA); ability to map defects to specific success criteria
- Strong expertise in ARIA roles properties and states; understanding of accessible design patterns
- Proficiency with Windows (NVDA JAWS) and macOS (VoiceOver) screen readers; ability to identify accessibility issues by interacting with assistive technology
- Understanding of keyboard navigation focus management color contrast and other accessibility requirements
Experience
- Demonstrated experience building test automation frameworks or libraries; comfortable working in Windows/Linux development environments
