Workshop & Spares Manager (Mechanization) Worcester Western Cape
Reporting To: Operations Manager: Mechanization
The Workshop & Spares Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and operational execution of the workshop and parts department. This role ensures maximum manpower utilization cost-effective maintenance of agricultural machinery (tractors implements and specialized equipment) and the seamless procurement of components to minimize downtime for clients.
Requirements
- Education: National Diploma in Sales & Marketing Business Management or a Mechanical Engineering field (Agri-specific preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical workshop environment specifically within the agricultural or heavy machinery industry.
- Leadership: Proven experience in people management and operational oversight.
- Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of agricultural equipment repair and parts inventory systems.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
1. Growth & Commercial Excellence
- Workshop Profitability: Driving the financial health of the workshop through efficient billing and cost-control measures.
- Parts Procurement: Sourcing and ordering high-quality spares and components for proactive maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Sales & Inquiry Management: Professionally handling technical inquiries providing accurate quotes and advising clients on product specifications and pricing.
2. Operational Optimization
- Maintenance Scheduling: Developing and overseeing rigorous service schedules for tractors and specialized agri-equipment.
- Inventory & Asset Management: Maintaining optimal stock levels (Just-In-Time) to prevent delays while managing working capital.
- Efficiency & Housekeeping: Continuous optimization of workshop workflows loss control and the maintenance of a clean organized facility.
