Our client a large retailer is hiring. A commercially driven Product Manager to lead the execution of
seasonal product ranges across the brand. This role is responsible for translating global brand direction
into locally relevant profitable assortments that resonate with the South African consumer.
Working closely with international brand teams and local stakeholders the successful candidate will own global
buying execution range planning and in-season trading while balancing brand integrity with strong
commercial outcomes across retail wholesale and e-commerce channels.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from global and locally developed ranges with a strong
understanding of production processes timelines and the full production lifecycle. - Build and manage brand strategy in line with global direction and local market opportunity.
- Execute global buying with international partners ensuring alignment to brand direction margin targets
and local market needs. - Build and manage seasonal buy plans pricing strategies and stock depth across categories
- Present product ranges for sales launches customer sell-ins and internal alignment clearly delivering
brand strategy. - Drive commercial performance through sales margin sell-through and markdown management.
- Analyse weekly and seasonal trading performance and take corrective action where required
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning Supply Chain Retail Operations Marketing and E
commerce
Personal Attributes:
- 57 years experience in a Product Manager or Merchandiser role within apparel retail
- Strong product development knowledge and understanding of garment construction critical path
- Proven experience in global buying and working with international brand partners
- Strong commercial understanding with clear knowledge of retail KPIs
- A good understanding of the active / action sports product category
- Advanced Excel skills for buy planning forecasting and performance analysis
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple seasons concurrently
