Position Summary

Guilford Colleges Department of Music invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Musicology/Ethnomusicology with a possibility of renewal. We seek candidates committed to the liberal arts model inclusive pedagogy and student-centered teaching.

Responsibilities: Teach six in-person courses (three per semester) for music majors and non-majors including topics such as global music cultures Black Atlantic musical traditions Latin American music U.S. Sound Cultures Western music history and methods courses. Additional duties include contributing to the General Education curriculum limited academic advising departmental service and community engagement.

Qualifications: MA or MM in Musicology Ethnomusicology or related field required; PhD DMA or ABD preferred. Experience teaching undergraduates engaging diverse student populations and ongoing scholarly or creative activity is valued. Instrumental or ensemble expertise is a plus.
