The Opportunity:
Were looking for an intern to join our Vancity Community Investment Banks (VCIB) Climate Finance team for a 4-month opportunity. VCIBs Climate Finance team originates evaluates and structures financing solutions for environmentally positive and impactful infrastructure projects across a range of asset classes in Canada. This role reports into the Manager Business Development Climate Finance.
A typical day would involve:
- Assisting with ongoing portfolio management by coordinating quarterly and annual reviews information requests tracking receipt of financial statements and compliance certificates and serving as the point person to ensure timely submission of required reporting from clients.
- Managing the collection and tracking of climate impact data including estimated GHG emissions reductions (tCOâe) clean energy generation metrics and other sustainability indicators used for internal reporting and external disclosures.
- Supporting the deal team on active mandates by contributing to credit memos and amendment documents among other working files.
- Supporting with deal origination and pipeline development by conducting market research on renewable energy energy efficiency storage and clean infrastructure opportunities across Canada.
- Assisting in organizing and maintaining internal documentation systems Q&A logs and diligence trackers by improving file structures and enhancing data accessibility across the Climate Finance team.

- Current enrollment or recent graduation from an undergraduate program within an applicable field and eligible for co-op/internship opportunities
- An interest in Climate and sustainability impact-oriented credit investing
- A willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
- A high level of attention to detail
Bonus points if you have:
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in corporate finance project finance infrastructure or private credit with an understanding of basic credit and cashâflow concepts.
- Familiarity with climate sustainability or impact investing themes including energy transition decarbonization infrastructure or ESG/impact frameworks.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with experience working with financial data diligence materials or credit underwriting.
- Foundational Excel modeling skills with familiarity with core credit metrics such as leverage debt service coverage cashâflow analysis and downside scenarios.

This role offers a pay range of $27.85/hr.
