Job Summary

ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER

Chiledas mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavior challenges. Chiledas goal is to help students increase their appropriate social behaviors and develop independent living skills through an enriched learning environment and individualized behavior programming. Chiledas population includes children and young adults with special needs including Autism Attachment Challenges related developmental delays and intensive behavioral needs.

SUMMARY: Chiledas campus consists of four duplexes where students live and learn to become more independent in all facets of life. Assistant House Managers assist the House Managers in managing and supervising their assigned side of the duplex to ensure meaningful and viable programming is being implemented. This could include recreational activities skill development on treatment and Individual Education Plans (IEP) and proper implementation and communication of behavior and domestic training. Assistant House Managers assist the House Manager in all areas of managing their assigned home.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in a human services field or at least one year of supervisory experience working with people with developmental disabilities in a licensed care center.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to model proper behavioral skills and judgment conducive to the nature of the role to serve as a role model for students and staff.
  • Ability to lead a diverse group of employees give feedback and guidance and make decisions through a trauma-informed lense.
  • Ability to take on responsibilities and assist in problem-solving for staff and students.
  • Must possess intermediate computer skills to learn and operate software programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and ability to train and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) IEPs and Treatment Plan goals.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to train and implement PECS visual strategies social stories positive behavior supports trauma-informed approaches and all other intervention strategies used to support student outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to train and implement various approaches and intervention strategies to support student outcomes.

GENERAL HOURS OF DUTY: Full Time Monday through Friday every other weekend and rotating holidays and overtime as approved. Shift days lengths and times may vary. In the case of time off Assistant House Managers will coordinate with the Scheduling Coordinator and the STEP House Manager to ensure proper coverage of their shifts.

REPORTS TO: House Manager

JOB DUTIES:

  • Complete job duties of DSPs when assigned to work with students (See DSP Job Description).
  • Work with Lead Direct Support Professionals and House Manager to ensure all in-house activities and outings are set up before the start of the shift for Skills Trainers and students to use and participate during scheduled times.
  • Collaborate with House Managers and Lead Direct Support Professionals to assign staff to students on student assignment schedules and post at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the assigned shift.
  • Collaborate with House Manager and Rec Department to ensure all house supplies and programming supplies are ordered on time and available for student and staff use. The AHM will also complete the purchase order requests for other house items.
  • Complete assigned duties to prepare for a new students arrival.
  • In the absence of the House Manager ensure that every DSP within your area has received their proper breaks.
  • Prepare for the start of the shift by setting up students individual schedules.
  • Work with House Manager to assign walkie-talkies to appropriate staff members and follow up with staff members regarding any broken or missing walkie-talkies they were assigned.
  • At the end of each shift check DSPs data collection by reviewing student binders to ensure data is accurately completed prior to the DSP leaving for the shift.
  • Ensure all students are engaged in scheduled programming for assigned shifts.
  • Train and ensure all DSPs are using and following students individual schedules.
  • Collaborate with other managers teachers and leadership staff to train DSPs on Chiledas policies and procedures.
  • Train DSPs on individual PBSPs for students in assigned houses following Chiledas PBSP training procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date status as a trainer for all students in assigned houses by completing PBSP training prior to a new or revised PBSP being implemented.
  • Provide positive feedback to supervised employees on a daily basis.
  • Notify Shift and House Managers of serious performance concerns. Utilize Chiledas Performance Counseling Action and Coaching Forms to provide employees with corrective action feedback and follow-up. and complete follow-up as soon as possible following the Performance Action Counseling procedure.
  • Collaborate with other managers teachers and leadership staff to implement retraining for DSPs as needed.
  • Positively promote and implement changes and agency initiatives introduced by Chiledas internal committees and teams.
  • Collaborate with House Manager to plan and co-lead monthly staff meetings.
  • Attend assigned meetings as directed by House Manager.
  • Write and deliver by the deadline all traineeship six-month and annual performance reviews as directed by House Manager.
  • Provide feedback regarding students PBSPs to members of the Behavior team in a timely manner.
  • Read and respond to emails at least once per shift.
  • Attend and participate in Core Team by actively providing feedback and following appropriate channels for program and procedural changes. Work with the House Manager and Lead Direct Support Professionals to ensure information is communicated from the Core Team meeting to all house staff as assigned.
  • Complete all assigned training within the designated time frame and complete at least 24 hours of training annually.
  • Work with Lead Direct Support Professionals to ensure that all house and shift documentation is completed.
  • Check to ensure DSPs are on time and in their assigned area at their designated shift start time and report any absences to the Shift Manager.
  • Complete daily chore checks ensuring that chores have been completed accurately.
  • Provide support as a crisis response team member as needed following Chiledas crisis response procedure.
  • All other duties as assigned.
