SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for District systems and software in support of educational program objectives
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring all District systems and software services are available daily
- Assumes shared responsibility for hardware and software in the datacenter
- Install configure and support District software such as virtualization departmental software URL filtering software antivirus and OS update services workstation/server OS etc.
- Install configure and support District systems to include security camera virtual and storage systems etc.
- Monitor servers and applications to ensure availability to all users and perform necessary maintenance to support server and software availability
- Plan organize communicate and schedule upgrades
- Coordinate with vendors and technical support staff to assure accessibility by users
- Maintain up-to-date records such as support contracts software inventory upgrades etc.
- Implement plan for backup and restoration of servers and provide documentation in the event of an emergency
- Maintain and provide updated documentation for servers and District software
- Work along with technical support staff to resolve server and District software related work orders
- Coordinate maintain and restore electronic backups of servers and systems
- Perform specialized and routine support functions
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
- Adheres to the professional code of ethics
- Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Software installation configuration and troubleshooting
- Local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) Internet e-mail systems telecommunications and data communications standard operating systems and software packages
- Security equipment such as firewalls intrusion detection systems and virus protection systems
- Network equipment such as servers (physical and virtual) switches and routers
- Advanced principles and techniques of systems analysis and programming
- Windows and Macintosh platforms and their operating systems
- Windows Active Directory and Group Policy Management
- Network firewall and image deployment solutions
- District organization operations policies and objectives
ABILITY TO:
- Maintain a working relationship with staff
- Troubleshoot and resolve systems issues
- Work as a team and communicate using interpersonal skills such as tact patience and courtesy
- Work closely with other departments and collaborate with other IT staff
- Maintain records in problem resolution
- Apply principles and techniques of programming to specific user needs and problems
- Maintain current knowledge of trends and products
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
- Plan and organize work
- Maintain regular reliable and prompt attendance
- Meet schedules deadlines and time frames
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Any combination equivalent to: bachelors degree in computer information science or related field OR experience in systems design and programming involving database structures and on-line applications
- Experience administrating a network environment
- Well-developed human relations/communications/teamwork skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in technically related area
