Security Systems Technician

Job Summary
Assist in the installation of electrical equipment in accordance with all applicable plans specifications codes and industry standards.
- Install configure and test low-voltage security systems including:
- Access Control
- CCTV / IP Video Surveillance
- Intrusion Detection
- Read and interpret blueprints wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Document work completed through service reports and project updates
- Assemble install test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring conduit cable equipment components and devices associated with electrical equipment
- Install and mount electronic controls device panels sensors and components.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring equipment and fixtures using testing devices. Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders building plans and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Reading contract drawings
Qualifications :
- 3 years of experience as a field technician in low-voltage security or electrical systems
- Minimum two years of specialized vocational training or college-level coursework in electronics
- Strong understanding of wiring electronics and system integration
- Ability to read schematics and technical documentation
- Comfortable using hand tools power tools and testing equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Public Trust Clearance preferred
Physical Job Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly and carry equipment up to 250 feet unassisted
- Safely use ladders and hand/power tools
- Work in attics crawl spaces rooftops and tight spaces
- Tolerate dust debris and occasional unpleasant odors
- Stand or work on concrete or uneven surfaces for extended periods
