Ravenscroft School is seeking a Long Term Substitute Upper School English Teacher to join our Upper School community. This temporary position begins immediately and will continue through May 6 2026.
The ideal candidate demonstrates passion for teaching high school English and literature strong cultural competence and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse student body and faculty. Candidates should model curiosity a growth mindset and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students colleagues staff and families.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Reports to: Head of Upper School
What Youll Do:
- Teach 4 sections of Upper School English including English 1 (9th grade) and English Composition (11th grade)
- Design and deliver inclusive student-centered instruction that supports critical thinking and engagement
- Serve as an advisor to approximately 12 students supporting their academic social-emotional and leadership growth
- Collaborate with colleagues in the English Department and across disciplines to plan curriculum and instructional strategies
- Utilize instructional technology including Canvas and Veracross to support student learning
- Participate in extracurricular programs including athletics and committees as desired
- Demonstrate flexibility adaptability and a growth mindset in teaching and collaboration

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in English or related field
- Experience teaching English preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse school community
- Effective use of technology for instructional purposes
Preferred
- Masters degree (MA MEd or related)
- Experience coaching athletics
- Familiarity with Upper School curricula and student development
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This role is based on Ravenscrofts campus with work in classrooms and shared community spaces. Responsibilities include active movement throughout campus leading classrooms and frequent use of instructional technology. Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
