Job Summary
Summary:The City of Lawrence is seeking School Crossing Guards. These are part-time temporary positions. Duties include responsible part-time work facilitating safe passage at school crossings. An employee in this class is responsible for directing children on foot and motor traffic at a street location where children cross when going to and from school. This crossing guard vacancy is expected to service Sunflower Elementary :The ideal candidate will be in good physical condition with no loss of sight or hearing and will be able to stand for a long period of time in all weather conditions. This position requires the ability to attend occasional staff meetings. This position also requires the ability to work independently and with little supervision. Previous experience working with children in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred. Must be dependable and available to work until the end of the month of May 2026. The employee in this position may be asked to return if circumstances :Approximately or generally depending on school: Monday Tuesday Thursday & Friday 7:30AM 8:00AM and 3:00PM 3:30PM Wednesdays 7:30AM-8:00AM and 1:45PM - 2:15PM. Ending in May 2026. Reimbursed at 2.0 hours a on-call position(s) may be available to cover Crossing Guard absences as needed. Those interested in back-up only positions please note this preference on your submitted :$13.60 per hour with $100 annual bonus for perfect attendance and an additional $100 annual bonus if asked to return to the position the following school year. Paid 10 days a year when school is not in session. Holidays are not paid.
