We are seeking a sharp proactive VP Brand Strategy & Communications to support the Brand Strategy Office within a leading financial institutions marketing organization. This individual will serve as a key strategic partner to the Head of Brand Strategy and her Chief of Staff supporting a team of 300 brand professionals across multiple lines of business.
This is a high-visibility high-impact contract role for someone comfortable navigating ambiguity operating at pace and delivering polished executive-ready work. The right person isnt waiting to be told what to do theyre proactively connecting dots chasing down answers and driving work forward.
Location: New York City preferred. Open to Jersey City NJ Chicago IL Columbus OH Wilmington DE
Contract Start: ASAP
Contract Term: 8 months with potential to extend
Working Hours: 40 hours/week in-office presence required
Compensation: $80/hr
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Strategy Support - Respond to high-priority ambiguous asks from top executives including LOB CEOs & CMOs. Go beyond deck-building: develop deeply thoughtful strategy briefs and materials that synthesize complex information into clear compelling narratives with a strong point of view and a defined path to action.
- Campaign & Organizational Strategy - Think holistically about how the brand organization works together. Support campaign strategy development across lines of business while also helping leadership think through how the organization itself operates evolves and aligns.
- Data Insights & Recommendations - Pull together research performance data and cross-functional inputs to validate and substantiate strategic recommendations. Everything needs to be backed by data this person knows how to build a story around the numbers and generate a strategy to complement the insights.
- Executive Communications - Support the development of executive communications across multiple audiences from the CMO and CEOs down to brand managers and broader team members. Will be asked to help determine what to send up across and down. Structure town halls develop thoughtful agendas and ensure information flows clearly across the organization and to key partners.
- Cross-Functional Partnership - Work across brand managers insights teams paid media and core strategy. Run point on gathering inputs connecting with 20 stakeholders when needed and synthesizing it all into something leadership can act on.
- Project Management & Execution - Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously with strong organizational discipline. Track projects keep things moving and ensure nothing falls through the cracks in a fast-moving complex environment.
- Confidentiality & Judgment - This role will have exposure to sensitive organizational information including transformation activities headcount and leadership decisions. Strong discretion and sound judgment are non-negotiable.
Qualifications :
Background in corporate strategy management consulting or a related strategic function
Exceptional ability to build executive-quality presentations strategy briefs and documents from ambiguous fast-moving inputs
Proven experience working with or presenting to C-suite and senior executive stakeholders
Strong executive communications instincts understands how to cascade information up across and down a large organization
Comfort with data and insights able to interpret research validate findings and build a compelling strategy around them
Strong project management skills; able to juggle multiple workstreams simultaneously without losing momentum
Experience working in or alongside large matrixed organizations able to connect dots navigate complexity and figure things out independently
Self-starter with high initiative; proactively moves work forward without waiting to be directed
High emotional intelligence and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential organizational information
Comfortable with ambiguity; able to move quickly without sacrificing quality
Financial services or regulated industry experience a plus
The ideal candidate has worked in a corporate strategy management consulting or COO/Chief of Staff-adjacent role someone who understands how executives think and can translate that into polished actionable materials. They have the presence and credibility to represent the team in cross-functional settings the analytical chops to back recommendations in data and the hustle to do the footwork themselves. Not too senior to get their hands dirty this person runs toward the work.
