The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.
ACS Family Services Division (FSD) is a beacon of support to families by connecting them to community-based resources. The division works to provide resources that maintain the safety and well-being of families by promoting child and parent well-being strengthening the ability of parents and guardians to keep their children safe and reducing the risk of repeat maltreatment neglect and placements/re-placements into foster care. FSD provides guidance and resources to our contracted providers that strengthen their ability to assess and address the service needs of families we serve. Within FSD the Program Design & Implementation (PDI) team is committed to strengthening prevention services for children families and communities through collaborative program management and strategic initiatives that leverage innovation data and research and human-centered design. FSD is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Strategy & Data Undergraduate Intern to join our team.
As a Program Strategy & Data Undergraduate Intern you will support our PDI team in day-to-day operations and contribute to long-term projects aimed at strengthening service delivery and quality. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable technical experience with tools and information-sharing platforms such as Airtable and Tableau.
Additionally as a member of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops lunch and learns speaker events NYC government tours and networking opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
-Support data management and analysis by cleaning up cross-referencing and maintaining staffing data from multiple sources to promote streamlined business processes and alignment across our various team units
-Assist PDI team collect data on staffing patterns for each prevention program for utilization by agency units to conduct monthly safety checks and staffing capacity tracking
-Contribute to development of a comprehensive annual staffing data report to provide high-level insights on prevention program staffing patterns
-Assist with streamlining communications by developing process maps and workflows to document how information is shared across units
-Serve as a member of a team responsible for planning and managing prevention services events (virtually and in-person) with internal divisions and external community partners including service providers advocates and families
-Support communications strategies with key external community stakeholders including service providers advocates and families
-Provide administrative and operations support including note taking for meetings and writing/distributing high quality meeting summaries promptly following meetings
Learning Outcomes:
-Gain valuable hands-on technical experience with tools and information-sharing platforms such as Airtable and Tableau
-Experience in building data sets (dashboards and reports) for exploratory analysis and evaluating and defining performance metrics
-Strengthen skills in coordinating and executing organizational tasks in a professional setting

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
