The role is to provide Technical Support to System Engineering in relation to ESA in-house activities for IRIS2.
You will work in the following areas:
- interface definition and management between spacecraft payload ground and external systems
- system architecture development and validation of the optical and RF communication systems.
- system-level modelling simulations and performance assessments
- definition of broadband and satellite data relay services as well as new developments using optical and RF communications.
- interoperability and standardisation activities (e.g. communication protocols data formats).
- definition and development of space-to-ground communication links.
Activities may include:
- Requirements engineering and consolidation Functional and physical architecture definition Design trade-off analysis Interface definition Technical risk assessment
- The review of industrial contract technical milestones including but not limited to: Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) Critical Design Reviews (CDR) Qualification Reviews (QR) In-Orbit Validation Review (IOVR) Service Declaration (SD)
The above activities shall result in:
- Technical Notes System models and simulation results Review Item Discrepancies (RIDS) Trade-off Reports Engineering models (MBSE)
Qualifications :
- Masters Degree in aerospace engineering telecommunications engineering systems engineering physics or a related technical field
- Experience with system architecture development and validation of optical and RF communication systems
- Experience with systemlevel modelling simulations and performance assessments
- Understanding of broadband and satellite data relay services
- Knowledge of optical and RF communication technologies and their application in space systems
- Experience defining and developing spacetoground communication links
- Strong background in requirements engineering and consolidation
- Ability to define functional and physical system architectures
- Experience with modelbased systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies
- Strong communication analytical problemsolving and technical assessment skills
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
