What Youll Do

The Command Center Execution Lead serves a critical function in organizing planning and managing a variety of cross-functional projects within nuclear facilities to ensure timely completion of production initiatives and resolution of process upsets. The Execution Lead will provide advanced technical leadership in managing complex change initiatives in support of a continuous improvement culture. This role integrates dynamic operational oversight with project management for capital and non-capital projects. The Execution Lead provides tactical direction of priorities and resources identifies and mitigates vulnerabilities to production missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate must possess a sophisticated blend of technical expertise leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of nuclear facility operations and regulatory frameworks. This includes demonstrating technical competency in managing complex projects overseeing critical facility operations and directing rapid response actions within a nuclear environment ensuring that all personnel involved performs work with a thorough knowledge of and compliance with the safety basis and principles of Conduct of Operations as described in DOE O 422.1.
  • Provide leadership for all required activities such as driving documentation (CSEs Safety Basis FHA) coordinating procedure practice/demonstrations and managing execution (maintenance calibrations ET&I surveillances) to support equipment startup.
  • Develop comprehensive Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) project schedules and directing multi-organizational teams (Projects Facility Operations Management Production Engineering Infrastructure Quality etc.).
  • Communicate and coordinate priorities with Command Center and System Health to support Production Maintenance and System Health and to resolve schedule or resource conflicts impacting project execution.
  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership for assigned projects ensuring production operability and availability.
  • Respond to emerging issues providing immediate technical leadership and directing all aspects from implementation of corrective actions planning and scheduling.
  • Coordinate special initiatives critical to Y-12 Production Operations by forming leading and directing teams to drive resolutions and successful implementations.
  • Manage and direct the planning coordination and execution of complex changes within Y-12 production facilities/capabilities including those impacting Conduct of Operations process improvements modernization and new equipment installations in Category-2 nuclear facilities.
  • Act as a central point of contact relaying timely and accurate information between Production Engineering Projects Infrastructure personnel and other stakeholders for effective decision-making and operational coordination.
  • Facilitates significant interface within Y-12 Production organizations along with Programs Engineering Quality EP&C and Security coordinating to ensure technical input concerning facility or equipment modifications specifications and regulatory compliance is integrated to maintain the facilitys safety envelope.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • OR Masters degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ten or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
  • In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Operations Conduct of Operations Integrated Safety Management Y-12 Safety Management Programs Engineering principles Quality requirements and Security requirements which is crucial for maintaining the facilitys safety envelope and work environment to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations.
  • Five or more years in a nuclear or high hazard environment experience directly supporting the management and administrative duties required in such facilities.
  • Strong project leadership in interdisciplinary functions demonstrating proficiency in organizing planning and managing complex initiatives.
  • Strong technical writing skills essential for providing clear technical input concerning facility modifications and compliance documentation.
  • Supervisory leadership and/or significant support roles in a nuclear facility indicating experience in directing support functions and maintaining the safety envelope.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and provide high level briefings to internal and external entities reflecting coordination and technical input capabilities.
  • Previous project management experience directly aligning with the responsibility of organizing planning and managing projects.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
