Project Coordinator, Lakeshore West (Capital Project Delivery)
Job Summary
Start Rate (Non-negotiable):$49.68 per hour
Our Lakeshore West office is hiring a Project Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Manager the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and providing regular updates / reports on the day-to-day activities of the project or specific component of the project including the design and construction of assigned physical infrastructure projects in a safe timely consistent and cost-effective manner.
What will I be doing
- Oversee the project work of consultants to ensure compliance with Metrolinxs Engineering Standards Building Code and Site Plan Control Requirements and internal user group requirements through all project stages such as the preparation of environmental assessment documents design proposals and reports accessibility reports contract specifications and drawings and construction administration.
- Oversee engineering and/or architectural consultant services for the execution of infrastructure projects for new construction and alterations to existing fixed facilities.
- Coordinate projects to minimize customer impacts facilitate internal and external approvals and that design and cost dispute resolution and timely completion within established budget and schedule restrictions are adhered to.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to address design review comments; coordinate other projects interface.
- Coordinate engineering projects with external agencies including the Railways to ensure compliance with legislation codes and the requirements of governing/regulatory authorities including the incorporation of external agency work within GO Engineering Projects.
- Support in the preparation and submission of tender document specifications for construction and consultant contracts to the Procurement team for tendering. Assists Procurement team during tendering by providing information to contractors and consultants.
- Support the team during project completion and commissioning for handover to user group.
- Prepare project post evaluation reports including lesson learnt.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- A college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology Architectural Studies or an equivalent combination of education training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering/architecture.
- Minimum five (5) years experience related to the planning design and construction of transit facilities interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and co-ordinating contracted engineering projects.
- Knowledge of the theory principles and practices of civil engineering and architecture.
- Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control scheduling codes standards specifications corporate procedures and applicable contract legislation.
- Understanding of Railway Rules and Regulations and Safety & Operating procedures is an asset.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work independently and think analytically.
- Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications is essential.
- This position requires the successful candidate to be present at various designated onsite locations as assigned by their leader for a minimum of three (3) days each week. Additionally as an operational business continuity functional coordinator the candidate should be prepared to make visits during evenings weekends and holidays as necessary.
- A valid Ontario G Drivers Licence is required for regular site visits. A Drivers Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the successful candidate.
