Job Summary:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse focusing on data collection order execution and therapeutic procedures appropriate for the patients age and condition. The LVN/LPN adheres to established policies and procedures while performing assigned duties.
Location:Newark New York United States
Responsibilities:
- Gather and report patient data to the RN.
- Carry out physician orders accurately and efficiently.
- Perform therapeutic procedures on patients.
- Provide appropriate nursing care as directed by an RN.
- Monitor and record vital signs intake and output and blood glucose levels.
- Implement behavior management techniques and de-escalation protocols.
- Maintain isolation precautions and ensure proper labeling of specimens.
- Assist with activities of daily living as needed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are met.
- Document patient care and related duties accurately and timely.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current LVN/LPN licensure in the state of practice.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience required.
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility/Nursing Home.
- Skills in Locked Unit Behavior management techniques Managing Assaultive Behavior Blood Glucose Monitoring/Testing De-Escalation Protocols Intake and Output monitoring Isolation Precautions Labeling of specimens Vital Sign monitoring
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in emergency or critical care environments.
- Familiarity with vents/trachs/PICC lines.
Special Considerations:
- Must be comfortable working in a behavioral health unit.
- Must be able to manage assaultive behavior.
- Float may be required based on facility needs.
- Weekend coverage every other weekend.
Scheduling:
- Days - 1:20
- Weekends - 1:20
