Job Summary

The Boat Driver at Stouts Island Lodge plays a critical role in ensuring that guests receive an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive at our island until the time they depart. This role combines transportation guest service communication and general maintenance responsibilities making it essential to the smooth operation of the resort. The Boat Driver will be the first point of contact for guests setting the tone for their stay and ensuring their arrival and departure are seamless.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Arrival & Departure:

ØGreet guests upon arrival at the dock assist with luggage tagging and transport them to the island.

ØProvide guests with a brief tour of the island while transporting them to their accommodations.

ØOnce guests are settled transport luggage to their rooms.

ØAt checkout coordinate with office staff to collect luggage from guest rooms and transport it back to the ferry for departure.

Guest Interaction & Communication:

ØServe as a central point of contact between guests and the resort staff during their stay.

ØEnsure that all guest requests and needs are communicated effectively with the relevant departments.

ØMaintain a positive friendly and professional demeanor with guests setting a high standard for hospitality.

Maintenance & Operations:

ØPerform general maintenance tasks including upkeep of boats golf carts cabins pontoons docks and grounds.

ØAssist with removing waste propane tanks food supplies and event materials from the island.

ØHandle minor boat or dock repairs as needed and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

Additional Responsibilities:

ØSupport other departments including the kitchen housekeeping and event staff as required.

ØAssist with the coordination of special events and ensure all logistics run smoothly.

Problem Solving & Multitasking:

ØDemonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness to address any issues that arise during the guest experience.

ØHandle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a calm and positive attitude even under pressure.

Qualifications:

ØPrior experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred.

ØStrong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and staff.

ØAbility to work independently and as part of a team.

ØComfortable with minor maintenance work and general upkeep tasks.

ØStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.

ØMust be able to work in varying weather conditions and on the water.

ØAbility to lift and carry luggage or supplies occasionally requiring physical exertion.

Preferred Skills:

ØMinor boat maintenance experience.

ØCPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

ØKnowledge of the local area and Stouts Island Lodges facilities.

The Boat Driver will work primarily outdoors including on the water and may be exposed to various weather conditions. This position may require evening weekend and holiday shifts depending on guest needs.
