ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the Chief Technology Officer is to provide managerial leadership for the programs and services of the Information Technology team through the planning budgeting implementation facilitation operation and evaluation of the services as delivered to member districts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Identifies opportunities and risks for delivering the organizations services including opportunities for innovation and assessment of obstacles and technical hurdles
- Evaluates and identifies appropriate technology platforms for delivering the organizations services
- Identifies technology trends and evolving social behavior which may support or impede the success of the business
- Communicates the organizations technology strategy to board members staff and customers
- Acts as Cyber Security Officer ensuring NIST 800.53 compliance across organization
- Oversees the execution of an enterprise-wide information security plan business continuity plan and disaster recovery plan which protects the confidentiality integrity and availability of the organizations data and servers
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the organizations computer systems operating systems and network related software
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the WAN communications hardware and various software services utilized by META
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the ERATE Program and administers both Cat1 and Cat2 Programs
- Ensures organizations customer support process meets customer requirements and satisfaction through use of annual survey
- Communicates with district members and associate members as needed
- Abides by the policies and philosophy established by the Board
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology standards industry trends emerging technologies and software development best practices by attending relevant conferences
- Ensures that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization
- Ensures the organizations technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Ensures the organizations internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with customer expectations as well as applicable laws and regulations for privacy security and social responsibility
- Shares technological innovation and business processes with customers for more efficient and cost-effective management of programs
- Oversees organizational systems & infrastructure to meet customer requirements and ensure satisfaction
- Participates in local state and national meetings that benefit META
- Maintains open and good communication with any personnel of any school district for the best possible service provided by META
- Communicates and works effectively with the Governing Board Chief Executive Officer and the participating members
- When necessary contacts vendors to define any questionable condition or item and assists in negotiating terms of contract
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in information technology or related field
- A masters degree in business administration or related field is desirable
- Information Technology management experience (e.g. project management staff supervision budgeting strategic planning etc.)
- Knowledge of educational administration practices and educational information technology applications
