Job Description
Lead coordination and academic support efforts for Hokie Summer Scholars (HSS). This program addresses the first-to-second year transition to improve the academic success of Pell-eligible students. HSS will offer participating students coursework that fills in gaps in their first-year transcript and paid undergraduate research experience. The project coordinator will be responsible for meeting with and advising individual undergraduate students on the development of academic skills and engagement in curricular and co-curricular addition the project coordinator will perform other duties as needed to include after-hours outreach programs assistance in other scholar programming initiatives and administrative tasks.
Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost of Student Success Initiatives (SSI) the project coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing scholar support opportunities to include:
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree plus experience working in higher education and/or developing student success programs.
Experience mentoring or advising undergraduate students.
Excellent organization time management and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills
Administrative experience organizing and managing workflows such as application processes.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.
Proficiency with Microsoft suites of tools.
Experience handling and maintaining the security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree.
Experience conducting research particularly as an undergraduate.
Experience managing academic programs.
