Worldwide Returns & ReCommerce enhances the relationship with Amazons customers through Support Options and a Returns process that is simple transparent and convenient. We work to reduce returns by helping customers keep what they bought and removing defects that would cause a return (Zero Defects). When items are returned or damaged we maximize reuse and recovery to achieve Zero Cost of Returns and Zero Product Waste benefiting people planet and profit.
The WWR&R Finance team seeks a self-driven Finance Manager excited about solving complex problems that have a customer facing impact require strategic long-term thinking and help drive the 4 zeroes.
As the Finance Manager you will partner directly with business and finance teams to identify the right business strategies help define roadmaps and provide guidance and reporting. You will play a critical role in communicating business strategy and results with company leadership up to the SVP level. You will own planning and reporting that supports a Senior Executive Team members goal. You will lead planning cycles for the org to deliver robust OP plans that are challenging yet realistic. As a key member of the team you will influence business model long term vision and decisions that will substantially reduce cost to serve customers. You will have a strong operational and controllership mindset as we continue our mission to build best-in-class reverse logistics processes.
The successful candidate has demonstrated the following abilities: they influence business owners support thoughtful decision-making and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They collaborate with senior executives and various business units across Amazon. They bring excellent verbal and written communication skills. A successful candidate is an effective multitasker adept at identifying high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders is excited about solving complex problems that affect company-wide strategic decisions and is able to zoom in and out to the desired level of detail depending on the stakeholders. They have the ability to go deep into the details but also to simplify the story to what matters for an executive audience.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead planning cycles for the WW Returns and Recommerce org bringing together a large number of stakeholders getting them organized pulling together high quality financials and sharing a clear story with senior executives.
- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models interpret data draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results drive improvements and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
- Uses SQL financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans forecasts budgets and consolidations.
- Creates effective business partnerships manages competing priorities and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events.
- Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear concise and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
- Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
- Participates in hiring developing and mentoring peers and team members. Seeks and leverages diverse perspectives in all activities.
- Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves scales or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.
- Contributes to work life harmony by being a positive collaborative and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
About the team
The WWRR finance team works on high visibility complex deliverables that have a huge impact on Amazons bottom-line. We partner with senior stakeholders across WWRR as well as partner teams. It will be a challenging role with lots of opportunities to learn and grow. You will be part of a close-knit team that supports each other and learns together.
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting business economics or a related analytical field (e.g. engineering math computer science)
- 5 years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- MBA or CPA
- 7 years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 7 years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models analysis and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g. financial savings operational improvements or customer benefits) experience
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL MS Access Essbase Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle SAP Lawson JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting budgeting and variance analysis and data interpretation of results

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
