We are recruiting for a Full time Permanent Behaviour Technician who under the supervision of a Registered Behavior Analyst (Ont.) RBA the Behaviour Technician provides specialized clinical services for children youth and adults within the developmental services sector. The Behaviour Technician delivers individualized behaviour-based treatment plans for individuals with social emotional psychological and behavioural challenges. The Behaviour Technician prepares materials collects and organizes data and supports individuals families and direct support employees to promote skill acquisition and reduce challenging behavior. This position has an hourly rate of $33.83.
Minimum requirements of this position include:
- Proven successful completion of university degree or diploma in Behaviour Science Disability Studies Psychology or a related field or an acceptable equivalent diploma/degree program as determined by the employer.
- Course work in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is required.
- Completion of 40-hour Registered Behaviour Technician training considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years full-time recent experience in the social services field particularly in clinical treatment for adults or children with complex developmental needs autism spectrum disorder schizophrenic spectrum disorders mental illness and dual diagnosis.
- Experience with and sound knowledge of Ministry of Children Community and Social Services (MCCSS) regulatory requirements mainly Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act 2008 (SIPDDA) and Child Youth and Family Services Act 2017 (CYFSA) along with Quality Assurance Measures (QAM) requirements related to residential programs is an asset.
- Experience with ABA tools (behaviour support plans data collection systems behavioural techniques skill development strategies etc.).
- Demonstrated use of Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R) Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS) Verbal Behaviour Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) Tool for the Assessment of Levels of Knowledge of Sexuality and Consent (TALK-SC-R) etc.
- Experience conducting functional analyses.
Duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Implementing Individualized Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and teaching programs as designed by the RBA.
- Adhering to all Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) training procedures and protocols.
- Collecting charting and entering accurate data on target behaviours and skill acquisition.
- Creating and maintaining data-collection tools and data sheets.
- Graphing and organizing data for review and monitoring progress toward goals.
- Monitoring BSP deadlines and ensuring timely updates.
- Supporting BSP writing individual family and employee training under RBA supervision.
- Conducting employee training and ensuring completion of Treatment Integrity Checks (TICs).
- Writing reports documentation summaries and supporting clinical writing tasks.
- Clearly communicating with and actively seeking clinical direction from the RBA.
- Monitoring referrals and waitlists and communicating status updates to intake and clinical team.
- Participating in assessments research quality improvement and program development activities. Providing parent and caregiver coaching and in-home training when required.
- Maintaining confidentiality and complying with all Personal Health Information Protection Act 2004 and provincial regulations.
- Communicating regularly with the RBA families and multidisciplinary team members and attending team meetings.
- Attending Independent Rights and Ethics Committee meetings and various meetings for people supported upon request (e.g. psychiatric meetings doctors appointments community partner meetings etc.).
- Creating and maintaining PRN protocols and monitoring PRN medication usage.
- Supporting behaviour crisis management protocols and maintaining safety and de-escalation skills.
- Traveling to individuals homes schools or community settings as needed.
- Demonstrating fidelity of implementation through ongoing observation supervision and checklist completion.
- Maintaining positive working relationships within the organization as well as with external stakeholders such as community professionals.
- Collaborate on planning and implementing service expansion.
