The Manager is responsible for assisting in the operational risk management oversight activities in the US Division. The Manager is responsible for supporting the development of the Enterprise and Operational Risk Frameworks for the division and Manulife for driving the implementation of these Frameworks throughout the Division and for providing oversight of and reporting on the Operational and Enterprise Risk activities throughout the Division.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide second line of defense oversight of Risk and Control Self Assessments Change Initiatives Scenario Analysis and other operational risk programs as needed by probing challenging and assessing risk by applying risk expertise strong relationship management and critical thinking skills.
Participate in high-risk projects and change management initiatives providing advice to project sponsors and resources on operational risk management activities.
Ensure alignment with Manulife Financial group policies and best practices escalating risk concerns as required.
Educate and train businesses on risk management frameworks and associated risk policies and standards.
Support business unit Risk Teams in execution of divisional-level activities.
Ensure continuous and effective line of communication with the Information Risk Management area allowing for comfort that the right subject matter experts are providing the oversight.
Promote a strong risk culture in the Division. Oversee the risk culture assessment process.
Plan and execute agendas for the Division Risk Committee Separate Account Oversight Committee and the CRO updates to local company boards (as applicable).
Escalate issues as appropriate to senior management and risk committees to ensure awareness of key risks and inadequate or delayed action plans or to promote support for appropriate actions or risk acceptance.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
5 years of experience working in risk management insurance operations oversight audit or compliance is preferred
Successful candidate must be a strong champion of the Operational Risk Framework
Strong relationship-building skills and will be required to form and cultivate a strong working relationship with many resources across the Company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with or understanding of operational procedures at a financial institution (preferably insurance)
Working knowledge of enterprise and operational risk management frameworks and processes is a plus.
Experience in designing implementing and validating the effectiveness of operational controls is strongly valued.

Salary range is expected to be between
$92475.00 USD - $160290.00 USDEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge skills qualifications experience and education/training.
