*Salary placement within the above range will be determined based on licensure and relevant To: Director of Vocational Programs and PrincipalPosition Summary:The HVACTeacher will provide high-quality instruction in heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration to high school students. This role emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training preparing students for careers in the HVAC industry and for industry-recognized certifications. The teacher ensures a safe engaging and inclusive learning environment that aligns with Massachusetts vocational standards and workforce Responsibilities:* Deliver classroom and hands-on shop instruction in HVACR (heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration) aligned with the frameworks established by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.* Teach core HVAC concepts including heating systems air conditioning refrigeration heat pumps ventilation electrical controls and system diagnostics.* Provide supervised hands-on training using industry tools equipment and systems to develop students technical skills.* Maintain and manage the HVAC shop/lab including equipment upkeep tool inventory and safe operation of machinery and systems.* Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and teach proper safety practices including OSHA standards lockout/tagout procedures and safe refrigerant handling.* Prepare students for industry credentials such as EPA Section 608 certification and entry into HVAC apprenticeship programs postsecondary education or the workforce.* Assess student progress through a combination of practical demonstrations shop projects written assessments and competency-based evaluations.* Support and collaborate with the schools cooperative education program to place eligible students in HVAC-related work experiences and monitor their progress with employer partners.* Integrate applied academic skills such as mathematics science and technical reading into HVAC instruction.* Develop and update curriculum lesson plans and instructional materials to reflect current HVAC technologies and industry practices.* Collaborate with school staff administrators and industry advisory boards to support program development and continuous improvement.* Maintain accurate records of student attendance progress certifications and shop safety documentation.* Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of HVAC industry trends technologies and regulations.* Foster a positive safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes professionalism responsibility and career readiness.
