8 Crystal Spring Tower Intensive Care Unit (8 CST ICU) is a 12-bed specialized surgical intensive care unit that serves several primary patient populations. Our critical care nurses practice in a setting where patients require complex ongoing assessment multiple therapies and interventions. This unit has a reputation for excellence and currently the only ICU within the Carilion Clinic system to be recognized with a Gold Level Beacon Award by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Our nurses rely upon a specialized body of knowledge skills and experience to provide care to patients after vascular surgery thoracic surgery interventional radiology or an acute stroke.

You will provide nursing care that includes taking the patients blood pressure checking their oxygen levels and temperature as well as assisting patients of all sexes and genders with bathing meals toileting ambulation and other basic needs. The Patient Care Tech/Nursing Assistant role can include one-on-one care of patients on suicide or safety precautions.

What We Require:

Education: Two years of High School required.

Experience: None required.

Licensure certification and/or registration/Life Support: May be required to obtain/maintain BLS.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Good interpersonal organizational communication and listening skills. Manual dexterity and visual perception. Job requires good hearing clear understandable speech and good finger dexterity.
