Job Summary


This position provides executive oversight of childrens mental and behavioral health services across the Division including both outpatient and inpatient programs. The role ensures services are high quality coordinated and responsive to the needs of youth involved in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. The incumbent works collaboratively with local communities and partner agencies to assess service gaps and develop strategies to address community needs. This position is responsible for ensuring program quality compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and the effective management of a large multidisciplinary workforce of approximately 350 professionals delivering critical mental health services statewide.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree with major coursework in social work psychology criminal justice business administration public administration law or another field closely related to health and human services.

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of three years of successful management and leadership experience within a comprehensive childrens mental health program. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of laws treatment modalities and best practices related to childrens mental and behavioral health services.

Additional desirable experience includes program planning development and evaluation; public administration experience including policy development and management of complex budgets; and familiarity with the legislative process including working collaboratively with legislators and supporting programs legislation and budgets before legislative committees.

The ideal candidate will also have a strong record of collaboration with governmental agencies private organizations and families to develop and implement effective programs and services that support youth and their communities.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of laws and regulations related to childrens mental health child welfare and juvenile justice systems. The candidate demonstrates the ability to effectively manage and coordinate resources to ensure the needs of the Division and the broader childrens mental health system are met while building collaborative relationships with community partners elected officials and judicial entities. The candidate is able to perform effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment while managing competing priorities and maintaining strong professional partnerships.
