DescriptionThe Chief of Obstetrics position will balance clinical and administrative activities with the goal of enabling the Director to be an influential leader in the overall vision to be the safest and most innovative academic health system for both high and low risk labor and delivery patients.
Clinical and administrative activities are complemented by opportunities in medical education participation in statewide perinatal quality collaborative initiatives and research.
We have a robust OB/GYN residency program comprised of 24 residents and ACGME accredited fellowships in Maternal Fetal Medicine Gynecological Oncology Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
Responsibilities- CLINICAL: Provide general and high-risk Obstetrics and Gynecology care including ambulatory care deliveries and surgery.
- TEACHING: Teach medical students and residents by lecture rounds and clinical activity in patient office labor and delivery and operating room.
- ADMINISTRATIVE: Labor & Delivery room operations
- Professional development and service.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State for teaching research service and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
Qualifications- Must possess an MD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and board-eligible/certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching academic research and service.
- Interest in the education of residents and fellows.
- Must be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Florida.
- Successful candidates for these positions are expected to have an established record of accomplishment of academic productivity. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience qualifications and sources of external funding. For appointments at the level of Associate or Full Professor preference is given to individuals with an established research program and/or grant portfolio transferrable to USF. Participation in graduate and/or medical student education and mentoring is also expected. The Morsani College of Medicine offers institutional salary support commensurate with experience and external sources of funding competitive start-up packages dry and wet laboratory space excellent core facilities and a collegial atmosphere to create an environment that promotes success.
