Assistant Director of Engineering

• Oversee daily engineering operations across guestrooms public areas outlets spa and back-of-house facilities
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and protect asset value
• Perform and coordinate timely repairs of all hotel systems equipment and fixtures
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with all safety fire life environmental and regulatory standards
• Respond to emergency maintenance needs and critical/VIP guest requests promptly
• Supervise schedule and support the engineering team; assign work orders and prioritize tasks to ensure productivity and timely response
• Monitor labor logs attendance and staffing levels to maintain cost efficiency
• Lead mentor and develop a multi-skilled team while fostering a positive accountable and service-driven culture
• Monitor energy usage and collaborate on sustainability initiatives to control utility costs
• Assist with budgeting purchasing inventory management and cost control
• Support capital projects renovations and contractor oversight
• Communicate operational issues to the Director of Engineering and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations
• Lead by example with a hands-on guest-focused approach promoting safety service excellence and Fairmont brand values

Qualifications :

• Technical degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Facilities Management 1st class operating engineer license is preferred
• Minimum 58 years of progressive luxury hotel engineering experience
• Previous supervisory or management experience
• Strong technical expertise in HVAC electrical plumbing and life safety systems
• Working knowledge of Building Management Systems
