Albertsons Library invites applications and nominations for a collaborative and innovative Science and Engineering Librarian to join the Instruction and Research Services Unit. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position.
The successful candidate will serve as the subject librarian assigned to science and engineering departments and provide specialized research instructional and scholarly support to undergraduate students graduate students faculty and collaboration with subject librarian colleagues this librarian will design and deliver course-integrated instruction provide in-depth research consultations and support disciplinary research practices in STEM fields.
This position contributes to the development and assessment of the Librarys online Research and Critical Inquiry Microcourse and plays an active role in advancing student learning faculty research and graduate education. The librarian will also participate in reference services and engage in library and university initiatives aligned with Boise States research and teaching mission.

The Instruction and Research Services Unit supports student learning and faculty research by guiding the Boise State community through todays complex and evolving information landscape. Librarians teach across disciplines and in multiple formats including course-integrated sessions workshops consultations and online learning environments.
In addition to foundational instruction the unit partners with faculty and graduate programs to support advanced research practices disciplinary information fluency and emerging areas such as data-informed scholarship research impact and open educational resources.
Since 2018 the unit has delivered foundational information literacy instruction through the asynchronous Research and Critical Inquiry Microcourse (RCIM) embedded within Boise States University Foundations program. More than 3000 students complete the Canvas-based course annually to earn the I am a Researcher badge. Librarians reinforce and extend these skills through discipline-specific instruction advanced research consultations and sustained engagement with graduate students and faculty research initiatives.

Serve as subject librarian to assigned science and/or engineering departments building strong partnerships with faculty staff and students.
Design and maintain course-integrated and stand-alone instruction for undergraduate and graduate students in science and engineering programs.
Contribute to the ongoing development revision and assessment of the Research and Critical Inquiry Microcourse (RCIM)
Engage in point-of-need research assistance and provide science and engineering subject-specific research consultations for faculty staff and students in person and online.
Work collaboratively with library colleagues on initiatives that support the librarys and universitys mission and goals.
Support state and university affordable learning initiatives.
Improve librarianship practices through professional development and implement relevant advances in academic librarianship.
Pursue research and scholarship activities in accordance with library and university tenure and promotion guidelines.
Engage in professional service at the library university community and state/regional/national/international levels.

American Library Associations accredited masters degree or a comparable graduate degree from a non-U.S. university (reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Experience working directly with students in an academic setting.
Experience providing instruction and/or research support for science and/or engineering departments at the college or university level.
Experience creating online learning objects such as LibGuides videos and/or modules in an LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard.
Experience with information literacy instruction in an academic library.
Familiarity with science and engineering research tools and resources (e.g. subject databases citation managers data repositories patents standards technical reports GIS data).
Experience with or understanding of evidence synthesis research methods.
Experience with or understanding of data management practices open science open data and research reproducibility issues in science and/or engineering.
An undergraduate degree graduate degree or significant coursework in a science and/or engineering field
